Ubuntu Wellness Academy (UWA) recognizes that marginalized and underrepresented communities face disparities in healthcare. These communities are often not adequately represented in birth and lactation support roles. As a grassroots organization, UWA understands our responsibility to provide a safe and supportive space for these individuals.

Marginalized communities experience discrimination and exclusion in political, economic, and social spheres. This exclusion contributes to limited access to essential resources and opportunities designed to empower individuals. In the healthcare sector, these communities often encounter barriers to access and face disparities in maternal and infant health outcomes.

As a grassroots organization, our mission is to remain connected to the social fabric of our community and advocate for initiatives that promote lasting change. We aim to address health disparities and injustices within our communities through support and education.

It is essential to recognize that marginalized and underrepresented communities encompass a diverse range of groups, including, but not limited to:

- Black, Indigenous, and People of Color
- Refugees and displaced individuals
- LGBTQIA2S+ individuals
- People with disabilities
